About 30 children plus parents took part in a Shropshire Wildlife Trust organised Robin Hood Day on Whitcliffe on April 4. Sara Pearce from the trust taught the children how to make bows and arrows using coppiced hazel wood before helping them to make dens with coppice trimmings. The parents too got involved. Many of the children were still playing in their dens and with their bows some time after Friends of Whitcliffe volunteers had packed away the marquee and cleared the campsite.
We are hopeful that many of the parents who took away leaflets about Whitcliffe will join the Friends and perhaps go on to volunteer to help preserve the common.
