Those who walk the common daily will already have spotted that the view from the toposcope was improved yesterday thanks to tree surgeon Alan Jones, his right-hand man, Chris, and volunteers who braved near Arctic conditions to carry out approved work on the common. This work particularly encourages improvement of the natural environment, with the added benefit for visitors of enhanced views across the town and distant countryside. My personal appreciation to all who did the work. John Barnard, chair of Friends of Whitcliffe Common Committee.
